Core Performance & Ports
- 4 x 400G QSFP56-DD Ports: These are the centerpiece. Each port supports breakout modes, allowing you to split a single 400G port into multiple lower-speed links (e.g., 2x200G, 4x100G, or 8x50G) using appropriate cables .
- 2 x 1G/2.5G/5G/10G RJ45 Ports: These are primarily for management (MGMT/BOOT) and out-of-band access, not for high-bandwidth data traffic .
- Switch Chip: Marvell 98DX7335 handles wire-speed Layer 2 switching across all ports .
⚙️ Hardware & Reliability
- CPU & Memory: Quad-core AL52400 ARM CPU at 2.0 GHz with 4 GB DDR4 RAM and 512 MB NAND storage .
- Power: Dual redundant hot-swap AC power supplies are included. Max power consumption is 123W with optics installed, or 92W without attachments .
- Cooling: Two hot-swap fans. Note that some users have reported aggressive fan behavior (spinning up even when cool) in early firmware versions .
- Rack Efficiency: The included RMK-2x10/19 kit lets you mount two CRS804 units side-by-side in a single 1U rack space .
💻 Software & Management
- RouterOS v7 (License L6): Full MikroTik feature set including VLANs, firewalls, and routing protocols .
- Important Note: There is only a 10 Gbps link between the CPU and the switch chip. This means the device is excellent for high-speed switching, but if you route significant traffic through the CPU (e.g., heavy firewall or NAT), throughput will be limited to roughly 10 Gbps .
